Why would you get rid of a 9600XT to get a 5700 Ultra ? Did I miss something?

Because I can get the 5700Ultra for $60 and then I would have enough to get 1GB of memory.

IF it's for profit because it's a spare, then it's not a bad trade. But if you're actually using the card it's a little less than an R9600XT in perfromance. However if your focus is D3 where you will benifit alot from the increased memory and the FX card, then it would also make sense.

But you may regret the limitations, if you have no other card, once the newer titles come out.

Just a thought.

Personally, more often than not;

512mb + R9600XT > 1GB + FX5700U. But that's just my view from the cheap seats.

EDIT: It also depends on the game, it you like those real-time strategy massive multiplayer, etc games, then maybe you'd benifit from the greater amount of memory since the graphics don't push either card.

I am missing your logic here. The 9600XT is better, so Keep it. If you want to make money, buy the FX5700U and sell it for a profit. There are many folks who foolishly won't touch an ATI card for one reason or another. I'd expect a used FX5700U to sell for as much or more than a used 9600XT because 1 - it costs more new, and 2 - Past GF owners who don't know better think it's a big step up from their GF4Ti cards and many of them only want an NV.

Unless your 9600XT is still in a sealed box, I doubt it will sell for more than the FX5700U. Seems to me the decision should be wether to buy/sell the FX5700U or not. If you buy it, deciding which card to keep should be easy.
