I was torn between posting this in Laptops/Notebooks and Mobile Computing but since iPad is discussed here I figured it'd be an ok place to post.
Soo... here's my situation. I'm going to college full time on campus (been doing online courses). I no longer have a laptop, but have a capable desktop.
What I need for school:
A tablet that has some sort of external keyboard for taking notes, voice recording lectures, easy browser, good battery life, e-reader (if I can find my books in digital form) class scheduling, alarms/notifications, access Blackboard and Wi-Fi (not carrier related connectivity). I don't need to really do graphs or anything extensive at school. The majority of my classes are Spanish related and will be taught in Spanish.
I could easily get a Kindle of some sort, but would prefer more than just basic school work out of a tablet. Other things I would "like" to use the tablet for: NetFlix, streaming videos, surfing the web at home via Wi-Fi, GPS (if I could find a reliable app), Bluetooth connectivity (to use in conjunction with an OBDII reader for my vehicle). It wouldn't be used for any intense games, mostly stuff for my 16 month old girl. I don't plan on taking pictures or taking video with it either. We've got a Nikon D60 and camcorder for that stuff.
Another thing that would be nice, is expandable storage.
I've looked at the iPad, Galaxy Tab 2, Acer Iconias and the Asus Transformer...all seem to have their pros and cons. I would like to get some feedback from this community which seems to have better input than random reviews on the web.
