What are the most widely used (thus, hopefully reliable) and economical web hosting services? A service for say 30mb of storage, 15 pop3 email accounts, etc. A web based interface for updating the site would be preferred.
Also, is it better to register a domain w/ network solutions and then pay for hosting, or is it better to have the hostig service register the domain?
It'd probably be better to have the hosting company register the name. Less hassle, and they usually won't try to make a profit off of it. You might even get it for free, with some companies.
As for which company to go with...no idea, sorry.

Apple? Macintosh? What are these strange words you speak?
I think you're going to run into a problem finding providers with a webbased interface. They might be out there, but instead of paying $10/mo, I'm gonna guess they're gonna charge you more. There's always yahoo, but I don't think that's the way to go.
For your domainname go to register.com
For your hosting, there are many. You need to just search for one that has everything you want. Odds are also that you will have to pay an additional fee for all those extra mailboxes. Mine comes with 2 and is $2 for each additional one.
I'd recomend mine, but I can't. I'm hoping to find one that is better.
