Microsoft office 7 - formatting merge fields in Word to import Excel worksheet

To format the text and numeric mergefields in Word to accept Excel format i.e. Excel worksheet will have date (June 30, 2010), but Word will import as (6/20/2010). Likewife with the numeric format - Excel will have $1,230.32 and Word will merge as 1230.3221.

The default date formats can be controlled using the regional options in Control Panel.
