I have a 465 Watt PSU, Im going to order 2 raptor's, Now you can see what im running in my sig, my case has 7 fans, will a 465 watt be enough for this, or do you think ill need a bigger size>? Normally Id say yes but im not sure how much power the geforce 6800 gt eats. But I will be ditchin the the 80 gig western digital 7,200 drive.

As long as you have a branded PSU, you are good to go. Raptors dont require that much extra power. I too have a similar rig with slightly more fans. I played safe (though not required) as I have Raid 0. If you have RAID 0 with a lot of data, and are afraid that something might go wrong what you can do is get a second hand dirt cheap 200W PSU, cut two wires from the ATX connector, short them to start the PSU without mobo and put all your non essential stuff - like fans, lights, CD/DVD on that. i am using a dell psu that I found in a computer bin that was soon going to be recycled.

I plan on running raid 0. I like your idea, my computers starting to look like a rats nest because of all the fans, I was toying with the idea of building a "expansion" on the top near the other power supply, and routing some conenctors up to that one. Im running out of connectors, which would be the other reason. I have a 465 watt enermax, id also like to add another cd drive in addition to the 2 hard drives, you think I could still get away with one psu for now>?

Enermax 465 is solid.

I have one on my dual XP (moded to MP) editing rig. Ton of stuff on that and never had an issue.

you are saying u have a dual proceesor system ?
specs ?
sounds cool.

ASUS A7M-266D , 2 x XP->MP 1800+ running as MP1900+, 1GB PC2100, 80GB + 120GB, LG4042, Creative 8X with hardware DX3, R9000 128mb WhiteBox Sapphire OEM.
Sounds cool, but functionality is very limited. I find it benifits more in statistical modeling programs for univ. than the really modest boosts when editing. Encoding is noticeably faster though (I noticed immediately when the nickle paint flaked of the mod on one chip and disabled the second CPU).

Next rig I will forgo dual CPU, more problems than it's worth. Maybe future support will be better, but for now a faster AMD64 is more attractive and less hassle it seems.

BTW pic take during an upgrade/cleaning session (update LG DVD burner + add HD), and also preparing to clean out the dust (hey it's dry and dusty in Calgary). Took the opportunity to stack the Editing rig ontop of the Gaming rig for a picture ODE to 2001, hence the pictures.

Thanks for the info Grape, just out of curiosity how many connectors can you piggy back together before they start losing juice (as in the one coming from the psu, how many device plugs can you combine on that one lead?).

Go ahead and piggy back whatever you need to, you would have to really go nuts with stuff to lose enough juice to care.

Ape need hair, live cold area.

I tried Nair once, but it makes my skin all red and splotchy, no good. Gonna do laser someday, but right now chicks dig hair!

Worried about arms though, longer than everyone else. You monkeys really need grow more!

If you're using that rig strictly for gaming... I've been hearing a lot that RAID 0 won't help much. It's great for video editing where you're doing a lot of reads / writes, but it seems level loading on games are starting to rely on the CPU and memory more than the hard drives.

There was a Maximum PC article about it... the gains (if there are any) aren't sufficient enough to justify the expense.

If you design software that is fool-proof, only a fool will want to use it.

I have not tested extensively.

I usually split up my wires though, fans on one chain, HD on on another, etc.

Really the amount you can put on one rail, etc. is dependant on their draw and their sensitivity to fluxuations. Fans who cares, HDs, try and isolate. I guess one advanatge for me is not having a veavy duty graphics card to share power with something else. Id' try and isolate that from other stuff, maybe fans with Graphics card, but also consider potnetial interference depending on their rotational frequency and whether the graphics card is easily affected by that (the scrolling lines so many people see) .

I love gamming but thats not my computers only purpose. It doubles as my home recording studio, lots of wav editing, sampleing, recording etc. Plus I just want to familarize using sata drives and raid. I enjoy learning about new things and messing with new areas of the pc that I havnt had any experience in. Plus who dosnt wanna optomize every inch of their computer.
