ati radeon 9600xt

hello,

I've bought a gigabyte motherboard (8i915P duo pro sk775), and also I've bought an ATI RADEON 256Mb 9600XT graphics card. My motherboard has PCI-Express x16 and my graphics card is AGP 8x. Anybody knows if this graphics card can function with an slot PCi-Express? Or I have to buy a PCI-Express graphic card?

LOL...You'll have to buy a PCI-Express card. I suggest 6600GT.

Two mistakes that affect each other. You should've either bought the <A HREF="http://www.giga-byte.com/MotherBoard/Products/Products_GA-8I915P Duo Pro-A.htm#" target="_new">Gigabyte 8I915P DUO PRO-A</A> or just <A HREF="http://www.giga-byte.com/MotherBoard/Products/Products_GA-8I915P Duo-A.htm" target="_new">just the DUO-A</A> both of which has AGP and PCIe; <b>OR</b> an X600XT to go with your now PCIe only mobo.

You can always get an X700XT/GF6600GT to replace it. If those are too expensive (try the X700PRO) then het the X600XT or Pro.

so the best that I could do is to change my graphic card for the X600XT PRO PCX? (more or less is the same price that my 9600XT)?

You're not the first. Some guy was complaining that his AGP card wasn't properly aligned with the PCIe x16 slot on his board and actually took the thing out of the case so he could get it to line up. Of course it didn't work. Who knows if the board or card will ever work again!

Try and find a GF6600GT or X700XT/PRO and compare prices, it's definitely worth the premium over the X600. But it depends on availability in in your area and budget.
