Statistics on toshiba computer quality

Hello,
is the Toshiba 855 series with core 3 processor a good long lasting choice?

Toshiba have been around for a long time.

They generally score OK for reliability, but they aren't the cheapest.

I have owned 2 Toshibas and have been less than impressed with them, feature and build wise. Granted, on that, both that I had were AMD CPUs and the same outer 'case' (or very similar molds used). For price, you can probably pick up a nice ASUS in the same range as a Toshiba. Best thing to do would be to go to a Best Buy or similar store and get a little hands on time, since aesthetics and feel (touchpad, button layout, etc) play a big role in laptop decisions I feel. It's not like a tower that is going to be sitting under your dek and never seen...
