NVs PR relation said YES. Seen on INQ.
Then a guy replied that they are Bullshitting, and its still broken. Also on Inq.

So dunno. Most likely not.

Graphics cards have been unloading video acceleration features off onto the cpu for a few generations now.

Although most will surely see this as a huge flaw, and make a big deal out of it(see ATi fanboys), it really isnt, as the write-up denotes.

I personally believe that nVidia's driver team is more than capable of compensating for any hardware flaw's like this, that have occured after tape out.

You simply need to look at the heavy burden of fixing the poor pixel shader 2.0 performance, that was dumped on nVidia's driver team during the generation of FX card's, to see that all will be well with something as simple as video acceleration.

You know what you really sound like?

A STUPID F*CKING NVIDIOT!

Oh yeah i'm such a newb, how could i know anything about computers, since i'm only a technician at a computer store.

I have always liked Nvidia cards, i always wanted a 6800GT, in fact i own a FX5900 right now, until i saw the VP failure on Nvnews, anandtech, and EVGA forums. I'm just waiting for an official statement from Nvidia, whether they're going to make a revision of the core to fix the problem, or not. If they're just going to deny all the charges of a hardware flaw, which some factions of Nvidia says it is. Then that's going to make me heisitate on purchasing the AGP versions of the 6800 series. I still prefer the 6800GT over the X800Pro, but i'm just going have to wait 'til the PCI Express version comes out which apparently has the problem fixed, and the Nforce4 series to come out. I personally don't feel like paying 600+ Canadian after taxes for a card that has a hardware flaw.

PLEASE NO FLAMING!! I HATE NVIDIOTS AND FANATICS EQUALLY!! I JUST WANDERED IF ANYBODY HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT NVIDIA FIXING THIS PROBLEM, DON'T WANT THIS TO TURN INTO ANOTHER FLAMEWAR. SO RANDALFLAGG PLEASE SHUT UP, don't turn this into a flamewar.

But if anybody has anymore information on this problem please let everybody know.

So is it like (or was supposed to be like) ATi SmartShader that uses the pixel shaders to smooth out DVD video?

To all of you losers who shelled out $400+ for yer little boards: SUCKER!!!!!

Why would they be suckers no offence, it depends what they do sum people never use there machines for encoding decoding video playback e,t,c.

At least they have $400 to throw around thats because sum people work. Not that I am saying you dont and not that i am saying you are poor. lol

They probably have another $1000 to $2000 to make another system just to encode video. lol

I guess some people just suck at sucking, not that I am saying you suck. lol

I think this is going to work with the next driver release. They should have a driver in the next week or two. Right before half-life 2 comes out. You will have to download the driver and the dvd encoder. They are saying that the encoder might cost 20 bucks or free. Not sure yet.

By the way, how are you. Been a while since I have seen you on the boards?
