Hi folks!
I have an external DVD writer (LG GSA-5160D) and installed it on the
notebook (DELL Inspirion 5100) without problems with the shipped version of
WINDOWS XP home edition. I had to format the notebook's hdd and reinstalled
windows using the supplied WIN XP HOME EDITION installation CD provided by
DELL, but now windows asks me for drivers of the DVD writer. Previously
Windows didn't ask for any drivers (before i formatted the hdd). I installed
every DELL update on my notebook's support download page but to no use. I
tried the DVD writer in another PC with Win XP and I wasn't asked for any
drivers...it installed automatically, just the same as when i installed it
into win xp that came installed in the notebook from the factory. Is there
something missing on the supplied CD of WIN XP?? Where can I get the
drivers?? There are none supplied on the DVD writter install CD because it
clearly states "NO DRIVERS REQUIRED FOR WIN 2000 and WIN XP"
