MacroVision Copy Protection

Will a graphics card with built in Macrovision copy protection prevent me from viewing mpeg and avi files from WinMx?

And my argument with dipshiit evolved from HL2, into illegal downloading <b>period</b>. Did you read his drivell about how he decided not to illegally download <b>anything</b> anymore?

On a serious note, if I had the money I'd go out and buy Doom 3 - the developers deserve it!

I wasnt thinking about handing my cash over to ID software. I simply <i>wanted</i> the boxed version of that game, with the capabilities of playing online(something which warez cant offer)

Actually the "do" in a way. It involves the TV-Out chip. If your TV-Out chip is macrovision compliant, you can display protected videos on a TV, but with the Macrovision crap in the signal (screws up VCR's). If it's NOT Macrovision compliant, the player software will not allow the signal to pass through the TV-Out at all.

On a side note (Should be the main note since thats what this topic was about)... I was reading somewhere about how microsoft is coming up with the future thing to replace the bios, and it was talking about how once they do that digital rights managment and copyright protection is going to be built into the pc from the ground up. But im sure people will find ways around it. I belive it was in the article about the coming of longhorn.

LOL! Yeah, I returned mine unopened after reading peoples first reactions. I then played through the demo later on and was thrilled I had returned the retail game. I saw the engine and had enough of the gameplay with the demo alone.

I brought Doom 3 completed it in 2 days returned it, I will never play that game again i coped it but still i will never even play the copyed version, to repetitive.
