Whats holding me back the mostest?

msi delta (forgot name) 400mhz board
1gig Corsair 3200LL (512mb x 1 256mb x2)
9700Pro
2500Xp barton at 2.08Ghz
480 antec psu

I'm playing ut2k4 ONS I'm getting max fps 60ish but mostly 30-40fps and 20-30 fps during intense action.

Is there any one thing that would result in a massive gain or is it a new G card, mobo and cpu (64-bit 3000 - overclockable ???).

Thanks

I believe for UT2k4, what's holding you back is probably the game itself, if you're playing online.

If that's what you're getting in single player it sounds a bit low, assuming 1024x768... but you never said what rez you're playing at...

Still, it's a safe bet that a faster videocard would give you a framerate boost, but I don't think I'd bother with a videocard upgrade on your particular platform as it's outdated.

Since both your CPU and videocard don't seem fast enough for you, you should probably migrate to an A64 platform and PCIe videocard when you can afford it. Anything else would be a waste of money I think.

In the meantime, overclock that 2500+ to a 200Mhz fsb and get yourself a virtual 3200+ CPU... and overclock that 9700, too. Might get 9800 speeds out of it.

Aye its at 200mhz already and it is online.

Watercooling and Higher OC me thinks...

Anyway I'm off to Thailand for Christmas so I'll see if I can pick up some stuff for cheap over there.
