I would like to hear people's opinion on the geforce 6600GT AGP. I'd appreciate any opinions from those who may already own one.

IMO 6600Gt is a killer. It just sets the new standarts for the mid-end cards. Its fast and cheap. I would like to see it hit the shelves in my country! I would defenitly buy one!

P4-2800->FSB800, Asus P4P800, 512DDR-400, Creative GeForce DDR (the first one lol)

It's a fantastic card, but unfortunately the price is super-inflated right now- they should be selling for $200-210, but because of demand the AGP version is selling for no less than $225. Might want to wait for prices to simmer down.

6600GT is a solid card. It beats last generation cards and plays all of today's games without a sweat. It's almost even with the 6800 up to 1280*1024. As long as you don't want to play at 1600*1200 with all the effects turned on ultra high, the card should provide very good performance.

I just got mine and so far I like it. I just need to tweak some things to improve performance. Still, it is light-years ahead of my old GF3 Ti200.

Waiting on X700XT Agp to see where that stands.
You're gonna be waiting awhile... ATi still hasn't made plans to make one. I assume that they assume that the 9800Pro is sufficient.

I know that. Doesn't mean that ATi will bring the X700 to AGP. Although the difference between 6600GT and 9800XT is about 10%+, I can only assume that (by not bringing the X700 to AGP--as they have stated) they assume the 9800Pro will stand its ground.

in straight gaming, a 6600gt is 10-20% faster than a 9800pro (so an 9800XT should make the scores tighter)...

Quote from THG review: Radeon 9800 Pro - available today in the same midrange $199-$249 price region - holds its own against the 6600 GT AGP very well in some categories.

Ati XT700 series may make it to AGP, but not until mid 2005 or as market demands by the looks... (ie bridging chip)

Trust me I know what I'm doing... ooops, grab the cat...
Edited by marneus on 12/02/04 01:55 PM.
