Laptop GPU upgrade?

Alright, so I have a laptop. Dell Latitude C840. 2.2GHz P4, 512mb 133MHz DDR SDRam, GeForce 4 440 Go.

Well, it's a pretty good machine, but the GPU just isn't measuring up to the challenge WoW presents. So, I am looking to upgrade it a bit. I know I can upgrade the memory, hopefully to a full gig, but I am unsure about upgrading a laptop GPU. Is it possible? If so, what kind of options do I have?

  1. Some new laptops are coming out with the possibility of GPU upgrades... but I believe you are out of luck, sir. Unfortunately.

  2. Really? I know a GeForce 4 440 Go isn't integrated, and the memory isn't shared, so wouldn't it have to be plugged into the motherboard like any normal GPU?

  3. There's no widespread standard like AGP for laptops yet, but ATI and Nvidia are trying to push their technology.

It's possible Dell might offer a proprietary upgrade, but you'd have to call them for that. You're chances aren't good though, but good luck to you.

  4. Laptop's are completely different beasts than PCs. Only specially designed high-end graphic cards are upgradeable. Yours is not!
