Hi all
Im sorting out a pc for a friend who had his pc upgraded by a friend. In his wisdom he dicided to put in a gfmx440
and he is having problems with random crashes in games and artifacts. So iv rewires the system to get better airflow
and iv updated the drivers and im still having problems.
so I tryed my old mx440 and it worked fine.
so I think his card is dodgy.
I need a new card for gaming at a real cheap price
and this is what iv found
Sapphire Radeon 9600 XT 128M DDR AGP VGA / TVO / DVI-I
at £82.24
I know its not a 9800pro which is what I use and recomend but will it do, he is not playing many DX9 games.
msi KT6
256 pc3200
amd 2800 sempron
fortron 400watt psu (which I put is) did have a generic 300w
mx440 64mb

thanks alot

it'll be fine value for the money, unless he can pick up a used 9700pro or 256-bit 9800pro

It should offer similar performance to a 9800 Pro with 128-bit RAM (the new rip-off version of the 9800 Pro so many places are selling "cheap").

No GeForce4 MX is "beta version" of GF4 Ti.

GF4 MX = Doped GeForce2 MX

well if there never were beta vertions of the ti cards
then i was misinformed.
but it used to give me great performance I could play call of duty at 1280/1024 with all the setting on high
black-hawk-down on the same settings
and vietcong on the same settings
I could even play farcry and it looked great.
