Hi, I just put together a new system to include AMD 3200+, Gigabyte K8NSNXP-939, Giel 512mb DDR (another 512 soon), HDD, floppy, ect...and my ATI Radeon 9700 Pro that I transferred over from my last system (worked great). When I press power, everything spins up including the fan on the graphics card but no display. I put an MX4000 in and I get my dsiplay. I am hoping this is not a compatiblity issue and that there is some work around I can do to make this card work. Searching boards didn't provide answers (maybe bad search words) and nothing on ATI website. In the end...can I use this card with this setup or am I sh!t out of luck. Thanx.

What kind of power supply are you using in the new system?

Watts, brand, and output on the 12, 5, and 3.3v rails please?

It's a ThermalTake power supply that I bought from newegg <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-153-006&depa=0" target="_new"> here </A>.

The MX4000 is AGP, correct? If so, first make certain your 9700 Pro gets its own power line from the power supply (to the auxiliary power connector on the card). And if that doesn't work, it's most likely a power supply problem.

That did it! Unplugged everything not needed, put my older PS with 32/32/26A and the display powered up with my beloved 9700 pro. Time to purchase yet another larger PS. Thanx Cleeve and Crashman for your help!

OK, I apparently do not know much about power supplies. I was pretty much just looking at the 12v rail to ensure >18A. Any strong recommendations for a new PS given my current setup? Thanx.
