My friend's computer has been in terrible shape for a good long while, and we haven't been able to figure out why.
The machine likes to crash some time into playing high end games. He's got a 9800PRO he "borrowed" from his dad's dell computer (hey, it was wasting away in there), which should be able to run plenty of things just fine.
We've tested overheating (pretty sure it isn't that), PSU, DirectX, many things. But we haven't had anything fix it.
However, now we think it may be the RAM. I'm getting him to run memtest86 right now to test his system RAM, but what if there is a problem with his Video RAM?
Would a Video RAM problem ever occur? Is there any way I can test the video RAM on an ATI card? Any other ideas about my friend's problem?
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
