Video cards won't speed it up, but you'll want good visual quality.

Matrox has the best visual quality, but Ati's visual quality is almost as good and Ati has better driver support (especially if you play games)

Nope. in 2d, Matrox beats them hands down.

But Ati is much better than Nvidia anfd just short of Matrox. So Ati is usually the best to get, especially if you do any gaming at all... because Matrox gaming sucks.
