Is anyone using the latest drivers 4.11 I believe with XP SP1? I'm not going to install SP2 on my system yet because of ISP issues and I don't like the extra securty crap :p

A couple weeks ago I started having system stop errors (IRQL_NOT_GREATER_OR_EQUAL) at bootup every 1 in 3 times after installing them but I think it was just coincidence because my 9700pro fan burnt out sometime around then too but there is more... the stop errors only occured **after** I installed the new drivers. I continued to get the errors even after uninstall and system restore. What a mess!

I installed the new drivers in the first place because my VPU kept resetting itself most likely from heat issues. I forget what version im using now as i'm not at home, but I updated sometime last August.

Well I ended up installing windows from scratch about a week ago and haven't gotten a stop error *at bootup* but have had a couple at various other points in the time period.. but I got my fan fixed two days ago which I stupidly overlooked and haven't gotten any yet.. crosses fingers.

I'm just trying to isolate the error here. heat issues? driver problems? hardware problems?

I have a headache! heh

I also get that once a day. I use the Omega 2597 (4.12b catalyst) and SP2. Dunno the problem. Started happening after I switched to 4.11 and greater drivers.

after the computer has been on for a while. Just random. What I have heard it might be a memory error rather than video. Nobody knows for sure. I did email ATI sprt for that, but if you see that link, the nvidia guy is also having the problem.

Its logical for it to be a memory error. Becuase longer is the comp on, without lack of ECC memory corruption tends to occur. I am running 2GB at 2-2-2-5, so for me there are greater chances of errors. Nothing is OCed though - infact memory is under OCed. Yesterday I defragmented my memory like every few hours, and no error yesterday, but that doesnt mean anything. For me the error is quite random and doesnt happen a lot.

But the only thing that pointed towards the drivers was that this problem started happening when I switched to catalysts 4.11 and above. I used same memory speed for long and never happenned.

Well i've done system benchmarks which include RAM and I didn't have any problems with them.

I am going to be pissed if something is wrong with my RAM. I have 2x 512 Corsair PC3500 XMS sticks that I paid a pretty penny for a couple years ago and they arn't even running 400mhz let alone 433. They have been underclocked ever since I got them cause of my CPU. It must be from something else. I'll have to see, but I haven't gotten the stop error lately so i'm crossing my fingers with the new 9700 fan.

I just used memtest86 and just found out I had some errors on the 8th test. So I decided to take off my latency settings back to default from 2,2,2,5 to 2.5,3,3,7 and had no errors when I ran test 8 again. Try it out..

Im using SP1 on my machine as well and havent ran into a problem with cat 4.11 or the 4.12b . Probably just needed DriverCleaner and reinstall drivers but fdisk format reinstall is just as good.
