GeForce ti4600 and widescreen LCD

Hello all,

I currently have a PNY Verto GeForce4 ti4600, using DVI to my Dell 1701 FP LCD.

I want to upgrade to the Dell 2005FPW widescreen monitor, but have a question about screen resolution. Namely, will my video card support the 1680x1050 widescreen resolution of the new monitor in Windows XP Pro. I know some games do not support the max res and a "black pillars" effect will happen; I am only truly concerned with Windows itself. Many newer games support widescreen so no worries there.

Using a standard width of 1600 will only leave 40 pixels on each side unused. Using a standard height of 1024 will only leave 13 pixels on the top and 13 pixels on the bottom unused. That's a fairly small "black frame" I wouldn't be too concerned about.
