Hi, I recently bought a Leadtek 6800 GT which didnt fit in my dell system, the IDE slot kept blocking the rear end of the card. Hence, I must go with an ATI or a 6600, but that wont happen. So my question is: If I can get a x800 pro for 400 and a x800 XT for 450, is the XT's 4 extra pipelines and core/memory speeds really worth the 50 bucks? Thanx for any input I recieve.

The 4 extra pipes will give you a performance boost and the higher core and memory speeds never hurt. If you need every bit of FPS boost you can get then go for the XT. If your not completely FPS hungry then I suggest saving $50 and getting the pro.

Lite-On SOHW-832S
WD 80GB 8mb buffer caviar edition.

If it's worth $400 to you, then it's worth the extra $50 for speedier performance and an extra 6 months of not having to upgrade. :)

Before I send this 6800GT back, are these vertical lines on my screen because of my video card? I get about 3-4 1 inch fuzzy vertical lines and when windows starts up I have green blocks all in the background. Also, on the bios boot all the characters are different colors and different characters, as well as on the Dell startup screen. I cant even see anything in the bios when I try to change things; I am still working on it now but please let me know if it is monitor related or Video Card related. I am using a ti4200 right now and everything is fine, thanx for your help.

I can't help you on the answer except to say if the card is being blocked by the IDE connection, have you got it the card solidly into the AGP slot? Have you loaded latest universal driver from nVida for WinXP?

I have a Dell, too. Was thinking of upgrading to the 6800GT as well. What Dell do you have?

For anybody, Can a different 6800GT be purchased that has a shorter card board?

Hey Dark, my aunt had a similar problem with her computer. She started to get those lines on her screen and color distortion and a couple days later her monitor blew.
