Video issue with Compaq C700

I have a Compaq Presario C700 and the video does not display on the LCD. The backlight comes on and then nothing. Also, the picture does display properly on an external monitor. I believe the issue is with the cable between the motherboard and the LCD. However, is there anyway to specifically determine if its the motherboard/cable/LCD? Thanks for any information.

Looks like it was the video cable. The hinge on the left side caused the damage to the cable, hence no video to the LCD.
