I own a USR 808054 Wireless Router since some months and it gives me full
satisfaction.
In order to stay up to date with some applications and to use fully the
properties of this device I upgraded the firmware to v1.21h.
I downloaded the firmware .bin file from this site
http://www.usr-emea.com/support/s- [...] &prod=8054 and I followed the flash procedure from A to Z as noticed on the .txt file
included in the .zip file.
Once flashed, the router rebooted but now the router seems to be dead.
It doesn't stop rebooting and I cannot connect to it by using the
192.168.0.1 IP address.
Can you please tell me what to do to repair it ?
Is it something I can do myself ?
Is it possible to re-enter into the configuration pages ?
Must I send it back to the support center ?

Andre,
I upgraded mine several days ago and a short time later it started doing the
same thing that yours is doing.
It took a while but I got it working again, but God only knows for how long!
Try this, disconnect ALL cables to the router except the power cable.
Unplug the power for a few minutes the plug it back in.
Press and hold the reset for about 10 seconds.
Plug in the ethernet cable from your main PC. Only this single cable, no
others.
Try to connect to the router. If you can't try another 10 second reset with
the one cable connected.
This seemed to work for me.
Back in the analog modem days I use to think USR was the best you could buy,
and I bought their modems exclusively.
Now after buying their 8054 I can say that I have lost all respect for their
products.
I have never been more disappointed in a product in my life.
Hope this helps a bit. Good luck.

I flashed mine and it would stay in AP mode only no matter how many times I
would go back in and change it.
Flashed it back to 1.17.

Default address to access the router is 192.168.123.254.
Try a long reset (10 sec.).
If after that it always reboot, try to see if you have a wireless phone or
wireless video or any wireless system.
Stop them. If it works, change channel.
Good luck,
Urbano

There is a procedure to reboot the router and I came across it on
USR's pdf maual. fist method is to unplug and plug back in the power
supply this should reset the unit. If that doesn't work and in didn't
for me you have to do the second type of reset they talk about.
something to do with holding the reset button in while you unplug the
power supply, keep holding the reset button in until the unit powers up
fro 5 seconds and that should put the unit back to factory defaults.
Also from What USR told me and what information I found on DSLreports
Forum on Wirless devices (use the "other manufacturers" type) the 8054
has a problem with finding any channel to work when you have a 2.4
cordless gig phone in your area. they recommend changing the channel.
one comment was also this "As all 802.11b and 802.11g wireless network
products operate at 2.4GHz, cordless telephones in the 5.8GHz or 900MHz
range would be necessary." Also another comment was "We have noticed
that when the router receives just enough wireless interference, the
router will lock up and sometimes a power cycle is the only way to get
the connection back immediately. Change the channels within the router
utility from 11(default) to another that will work better in your
environment. Our customers have found channels 1 and 6 work best"
Changing the channel for me never worked and I am stuck with two router
that I can't use. hope others have better luck. Stu

US Robotics 8054 uses 192.168.123.254 as a default gateway. You say, you can
not connect to it using 192.168.0.1.When you flash firmware you remove old
and install new. Usually it goes without a glitch, but if during that time
you loose power or cable connection, you might not be able to install new
firmware while old one is removed. You should not use wireless computer to
upgrade firmware, because the above will happen. Firmware upgrade puts
router to the factory state. It has to be reprogrammed.
