I've seen reviews saying each card was better then the other. However, in 3DMark03, the Ultra was rated better then the X800 in all game tests except game four. Also, in the non-game tests, the Ultra scored better. I plan to get one or the other in about a week. Please tell me which one I should get and why.
Thanks

Just where are you going to find a X800XTpe and what is it going to cost you? Got any cash left over for me.

It's seems a matter of preference and availability, but to me IF available, and IF the same price, the X800XTpe is the stronger card IMO. The 6800U win's it's share of benchies, but the most stressful settings in most games go to the XTpe. Of course driver changes move results a little back and forth too. Reguardless, Neither are worth $500+ to me though.

Edit: But with your setup, of those two, I'd add an X800XTpe if I could find one for a price I was willing to spend. IMO, review sites showing no brand preference, would seem to back that up as overall a slightly more powerful card. But again each win their share of games.

For $200 less I'd go with the Ultra easily. BFG make great cards and have a Lifetiem warranty as well. You'll be happy with either card though.

 $200, ouch.

Where are you from? Around here (USA) it's maybe $100 difference. $450-$500 6800U and $550-$600 X800XTpe. And I seriously consider X800XT as another alternative in the $450 range.

Only you know if money is no object, but $200 seems awfully high for what you get. If i were going to spend a big premium, I'd make sure it's on a HIS X800XT IceQ II VIVO Limited Edition, and not just any old XTpe.

But I guess it just depends as to how much you are willing to spend to have the absolute best. Above the $350 or so for a 6800GT, it costs alot to increase performance. Personally, I just can't imagine actually spending more than $450 or so for a 6800U or plain X800XT, even if I could. But that FX53 just seems to be begging for a X800XTpe.

You should start a poll and see what everyone thinks. Either list the best prices you find for both and ask what everyone would buy for that system, or if money is no object and you want the absolute best, forget price and say, what's the bests card I can pair with this rig? I'd like to see the results to both polls.
I got a feeling X800XTpe wins the absolute best, while if prices are listed as $200 more for the XTpe, the 6800U would win that one.

The HIS X800XT IceQ II VIVO Limited Edition has been very hard to find. When I did find it, it was either sold out or over $650. If you know of any places that sell it, and sell it for a decent price, let me know.

I haven't seen one in a while also. BFG 6800U for $480 in stock not rebates. i still think I'd look for a Plain X800XT for less than that though.

Still no link.

If you're nuying on 3Dmk03 alone, you really need to think about what you're doing.

Bungholio marks mean little. The tests are interesting on their own, but mean little when comparing architectures and trying to draw many conclusions. The FX series often outperformed the R3xx series in 3Dmk03, but did terrible in everything else.

I'd look at broader results to determine a card. 3Dmk03/05 are very innacurate at being game predictors, just feature exposers. And not all the features are used in games so it doesn't equal in game performance directly.

3Dmark is a great tool, but not a buyer's guide.

Either one is a ripoff at their current prices. The current generation has been out for six months and its starting to get stale at those prices. They need to drop the top end by about 50 dollars to make it even worth considering, with the new stuff just around the corner.

The Ultra gets my vote, as its more future proofed with the PS3.0 support.

I agree for most of us that totally applies. But he has a FX53 in that machine...which means he is willing to pay a premium to get the very best, hence his question between the Ultra and XTpe. Also, If any machine can take advantage of the extra raw power of the top cards, it's his. And if anyone is not going to be happy owning a step down from the best, it's probably him (and other A64FX or P4ee owners who have invested alot for cutting edge already). So it's not like recommending a $500 card for someone on a budget running an AXP2000+.
