Fresh install of xp Pro, after cat 3.6 driver instal, upon boot.."Delayed Write Failure...unable to locate c:\$mft..all data will be lost" and tons of similar errors, and crash
I finally read the fine print on the cat3.6 splash screen, said it was related to choosing "use memory for system cache"..ie don't enable large system cahe, regardless if you have 1Gb memory, as I do.
I thought this was driver related, but found some info that others having this without ATI products...
Any one familiar with this, and or have found a solution?
I have found many forums noting this, and it more conclusively a Windows issue. Seems all about changing the mem usage to "system cache" at system prop> Advanced >performance> advanced, or the relevenat reg entry large system cache = "1"
Another fresh clean install, without making the setting, worked well, no error.
This frustrates me as I generally " feel " a performance boost when changing that setting to large system cache enabled, I am running 2x512 333ddr mem =1 Gb. So for now, have to leave it at default.
Hasn't anyone here had this similar experience?
