BTW, SLI 256+256 = 512, but slower than the 256mb on each card on it's own.
Likelyhood of a gaming card with 512mb on a single board coming out soon, very low. Memory is expensive, and the top end cards' memory is very expensive.
Better in most cases to have 1.6ns 256 than 2.0+ns 512mb.
However anyone could bring one out, just a question of whether people are willing to pay the premium, and in the question of proffesionals buying workstation cards the answer is a resounding yes.
But there has been nothing to show any benifits for the card even in D3 which can be run in Ultra mode on 256mb cards.
