I spilt a pint of water on my wife's Dell Vostro V131 and toasted the motherboard. I couldn't source an exact copy replacement for her i3-2310m chipset, but did get hold of an i5-2410m chipset board. I installed it, crossed my fingers, and happily it booted into Win 7 without issue.
Everything was working fine apart from the touchpad and the fingerprint reader - I figured they may also have been water damaged so bought a new palm rest (both touchpad and fingerprint reader are integrated into the palm rest), but still no joy. I have tried reinstalling all the drivers ,including all the motherboard ones, and I've run diagnostics on the motherboard that have shown no issues. I've even re-flashed the BIOS with no joy.
I've also tried booting into the mini windows XP on Hirens boot cd, and the touchpad isn't working on there either.
Can anyone advise me as to what the problem could be, or suggest what I should try next to try and fix it / diagnose it further?
