I have a budget of approx $190US ($250AU) for a video card. It will be used for gaming on a p4 2.8g system. Suggestions appreciated.

Assuming you need an AGP card, I doubt that you'll find anything better than an 256-bit 128MB Radeon 9800 Pro. DO NOT buy a 128-bit Radeon 9800 pro as they barely beat out the 9600XT and typically cost alot more. If you can find a 6600GT or even better 6800 for about the same price over there, go for that. If all these cards are out of your price range, a 9700 Pro or 256-bit Radeon 9800 (non-pro) would be the next best, followed by a 9600XT or 9600 pro which are definately a step down, but still the best in their price range over here. Avoid the GF FX series as they typically offer much less performance to the dollar than the Radeon 9600 Pro, 9600XT, 9700 pro, 9800, 9800 pro.

9800 PRO is the best you can get right now, might be worth it to wait for the 6600GT AGP which should be available soon though.
