I messed up! I messed up! I just ordered a new Computer (est. delivery date Dec 22) and didn't realize what I did. I haven't been keeping up with new pc technologies. The new computer I am going to get has a X300 SE in it. I was so caught up in the 128MB video memory that I didn't notice that it was a 64bit card (when most are 128-256bit cards today). What are the best options for a video card in the $150-$200 proce range. Keep in mind that I do not have an AGP slot. Only the PCI Express x16 and x1 slots. The types of games I will be playing are mainly last gen. games that I couldn't really enjoy because of my slow computer (Black and White, Civilization III). But I would also like to play some of the newer games like Star Wars: KOTOR, HL2, Unreal Tournament 2004. As far as graphics quality in gameplay, I am not looking for much. Just a card that will allow me to play these games without it stuttering too much. I am willing to play my games on low grahics settings. Thanks for any help.

Get a 6600GT PCIe. $180-$200 all over the place online.(which is kind of odd - since there is no "place" on the net - lol.)

NewEgg and Froogle and Pricescan - enjoy. I like Gainward myself.

You might be able to contact Dell and modify your video card from them.
I would at least call and iquire, or see if they will swap it once recieved...Worth trying.

^^^^I would change it through them but then I'd have to change other components on my system because they only gave me $1,500 credit to use and my systems total price with tax came out to about $1,490. On top of that, I've grown to like what I have selected for my systems components over the past few days. So I will just take the money I get for Christmas and get a new video card and sound card.

I totally agree. The GF6600GT PCI-e is the best available for under $200 and easier to find than an AGP one even. Otherwise, wait til the end of January and the plain X800 from ATI for $200 will kicks it's butt. The X800XL for $300 looks to be a great card if you somehow strike it rich by then.

Update:

Just got my computer a few days ago and I had a few suprises. I got a faster CPU than I order (was supposed to get 3.2Ghz but they gave me the 3.4GHz P4 550). Second suprise was how quiet this computer is. Especially compared to my older computer. With this one I can't even tell it's on half the time. Even with high CPU load I don't even hear too much fan noise (Using DVD Srink for 9 min strait at 95-100% CPU load).
