So i went into the computer store i always go to and asked the computer guy who always helps me what the best card i can buy for 150$ canadian is. He gives me the asus 5700le. its priced at 130 canadian. I get this card home, plug it in and try to find something on overclocking it. I end up with a program called riva tuner and i notice its got only a 64 interface. Ive heard that pretty much all nvdia 5000 series cards suck ass. Did i get fed some bad advice? i wanted to go for the 9600xt.

You could have got a much better card for that price.

It could have been unintentional. Most dealers don't know the technical difference between a 5700 and a 5700 LE. Most still think nVidia has always made the best gaming cards. Most think more memory equals more performance regardless of other specifications. Doing repairs doesn't make you an expert on performance.

I agree with you and Crash here. Salesman probably didn't know. But, yup reguardless he paid $150Can for a lame video card. I just can't see recommending any FX series cards at the prices I have seen. But a 64-bit FX5700le...ouch.

Not sure if possible up there, but is a 9600pro available in Canada for $150 or less? MUCH better card!!! Look Here as an example. The 128-bit FX5700le is almost able to match the 64-bit 9600se in farcry at puny 800x600. And the 64-bit has got to be MUCH worse. The 9600 pro looking pretty good there. Many more benchies of 101 cards in the full review here should give you a picture of a 128-bit FX5700le. I suspect(just a guess) that the 64-bit might offer 64-bit FX5600XT performance... far below the 128-bit 5700le. Hard to say because all FX5700le reviews seem to be of the 128-bit version.

Ya I helped a guy at Best Buy the other day who was looking at the same card. I told him to do more research on vid cards. Plus told him to check out our Graphic Buyers Guide. He did not buy that card. I told him if $200 US is his limit to buy 6600GT. All the FXs stink.
