Hi, I am currently still using my ati 9700 pro from a few years back when i bought it with some Christmas gift certificates. I use my computer mostly for graphics and animation then gaming. Some of the following heavy programs i use are...

1.studio max
2.combustion
3.Photoshop

I have some more gift cert this year, is it time to update to ati x800 pro? Am i just wasting my money for a few second of more speed.

My current system is

AMD 64 3200
1 gig corsair x platinum
kt8 neo board
antec 350 watt power supply

Thanks for any feedback

save you money

wait it out another year.

unless your Realy piticular or a hard core gamer in the more resent games just released... it would most definalty not be worth it for you.

you'll end up buying a new MoBo for your New PCIex card and possibly a new CPU and quite likely new RAM...or just a whole new system.

Save. you wouldn't notice to big a diff any how

The only app you listed that would show gains with an X800 is 3dsMAX.

Overclock it? Sure!

I really wodnt touch the x800 cards but you will get more eye candy with the x800 cards than the 9700pro. Wait till at least this spring.
