Do I have a balanced system for my video card?

I just got an ATI RADEON 9800 PRO 128 megs 256 bits.
I am wondering if the rest of the components are in balance with this video card.
I am about to assemble this rig.

MOBO NF7-S v2
CPU AMD ATHLON 3200+ Barton
PSU FORTRON 350 watts.
MEMORY CORSAIR 512 megs PC3200
HARD DRIVE WESTERN DIGITAL 120 GIGS
SOUND CARD CREATIVE LABS SOUND BLASTER AUDIGY
OS WINDOWS XP

Yep. Good card for that system.

I have a 3200+, 9800pro, 1 Gig RAM and I can play HL2 with all the trimings at 1152*864 no problem

Start adding extra hard drives, pci cards, fans, lights, etc., and that PSU might come up short... but it is a good one... but if you were starting from scratch, why not start off with a quality 450 or something?

Flash your card to get XT performance, then you will be cruising...

And the sign says "You got to have a membership card to get inside" Huh
So I got me a pen and paper And I made up my own little sign</pre><p></font color=red>

The 9800 is a great complement to an AthlonXP.

dude XT's are only 256meg cards with DDR2, most 128meg PRO's cant be flashed AFAIK

especially if the core/memory cant handle those clock speeds

They can be flashed with a modified BIOS. It only tightens the mem timings a bit (but can REALLY knock a mem OC down--especially if the RAM is Hynix). The performance boost is noticable at the same clocks.

Maxtor disgraces the six letters that make Matrox.

OOPS my bad :(

and yes i heard that XT's are faster at the same clock speeds..ive seen benchies where shader performance was faster too , and thats not really memory intensive. I have 2.8ns Samsung that will do 370mhz, perhaps i should try it

edit : hmm ATITool allows you to change the memory timings, but too bad that program sucks and doesnt work half the time

Thanks for the opinions guys. Now I can assemble this rig.

By the way...I have no idea how to overcloack anything on a computer. But I guess the versatility of the ABIT motherboard will allow me to learn how its done.

For Titaniom: well...you might be right about the PSU coming short. But besides two optical drives and fans...plus network card...nothing else is going in...I want a very simple system. And U R right...FORTROM PSU's are very good quality according to TH reviews.
