Hi, i currently have a Geforce Ti4600 128MB. I really want to upgrade to better play the newer games out now. However, i have concerns about how high to reach for a new card. Will a Geforce 6800 or Radeon X800 XT/Pro really net me much performance gain over say, a Radeon 9600 XT/Pro, given i have an older system? Also, which are better, the Xt's or the Pro versions? Thanks for the help.
My specs are:
Pentium 4 2.26 GHz
1.5 Gigs DDRAM
Seagate 80G 7200rpm HD
450 Watt Power Supply
Unsure of Motherboard type
XT is better than Pro, faster cards make the largest performance difference in newer games (even on slower systems).

a radeon X800 Pro will/can seriously deliver twice the performance of a Radeon 9800 pro, and twice the performance of a Radeon 9800 XT if you OC it. In all honesty, with the new games, the 9600 xt can't even touch the X800. If you can find a deal on an X800 and you have a processor of about a p4 2.2 with 512k of cache or above, youll love yourself for getting a high end card

How soon do you need your new vid card? ATI X800XLs should be released end of Jan or early Feb. They are faster that 6800 plus $299. So far paper launch and price.
