Hey,

I downloaded the new ATI Catalyst drivers and Catalyst control center, and i noticed that you can force a certain refresh rate when you are using programs. I have some games that run the menus in 640x480 and i was wondering if any of you guys here would know how to force the resolution of a program. Maybe if you can't do it with drivers, you could do it with a batch file (because i know you can use .bat files to force CPU priority on a program). Any feedback would be appriciated.

You can't force resolution of menus. Many game developers only make menus in one resolution.

2d menus aren't like 3d games, you have to custom tailor them for one resolution. There's no benefit to stretching a low resolution 2d raster-image based menu to a higher resolution, because it would look exactly the same.

If the game doesn't have multiple menu resolutions built in, then you're SOL. I recommend you spend less time in the menus, and more time actually playing the game...

Well, its just that in 640x480 res i get a box around everything (about a 10 pixel border) And for some reason it really bothers me LOL. I think i would get a benefiet from having a higher resolution, because more text would fit in the screen (Even though i realize the menus are kind of tailored for a specific resolution)

Most developers will stretch their low-res menus to fit full screen.

If your game doesn't do that, I'm afraid there's nothing you can do about it... send an email to the developers and tell them they're lazy. :)

No no it's not the game. If anything is in 640x480, it put's that box around it. It has something to do with my drivers. Even on a totally different PC and different video card i got the box around the screen...

I don't now about Catalyst driver, but Nvidia Detonator surely can force the refresh rate on every resolution. I've seen the option menu but never use it.
