Has anyone seen a ATI Radeon 9800 non-pro 256-bit for sale anywhere? I can't seem to find one. Or do they just not exist anymore?

If you have, could you post a link or a price?

Ah, thanks. I think they have gone as well.

Now I guess have to decide if I want to go for a 9600XT or cough up more money for a 9800Pro or 6600GT.

Or are there any other alternatives?

Ebay... 9500 PROs go for about $75-$80 used, and they're just as good as 9600XTs.

But if you're going to buy new, go 6600GT...

Thanks again, Cleeve.

Do you know if there will be any other alternatives to the 6600GT in the near future? Like an AGP version of the X700 Pro.

Ati has said they won't port the X700 to AGP, but they've been working on a bridge chip for *something* and 9800's aren't filling the gap, so I wouldn't be surprised if they change their plans...

Having said that, the 6600GT is so much better than the 9800 PRO - and notably better than the X700 PRO - so there's no real reason to wait for the X700 AGP. Get a nice 6600GT and be done with it.

Plain X800, if bridged to AGP, will spank the 6600GT; For $200, the X800 PCI-e is supposed to match the GF6800. Only thing that would make me wait if I were him, is not finding a deal on the 6600GT. They are still $220+, while plain 6800's have been cheaper than that on sale. Of course, since no 256-bit 9800 pros can be found for $175 like a few months ago, no real reason for them to drop 6600GT prices. At $200+ for a 9800 pro, or $220+ for a 6600GT, I'd buy the 6600GT for sure. But knowing I could have bought a 6800 for cheaper a couple times, wouldn't make buying a 6600GT at regular prices sit well in my stomach. I expect that in buying RAM, but not with video cards.

Do you think a Radeon 9700 Pro is worth buying? The benchmarks in the VGA IV Charts look comparable to a Radeon 9800 and it has DirectX 9 support.

Here's a link I found on pricewatch that actually doesn't look too bad(I'm not sure if allstarshop is any good though):
