I have a PCI Express slot and a PCI (regular) slot on my motherboard. I'm interested in upgrading the graphics card (currently I have integrated graphics), and I'd also like to get a TV tuner card. Can I get a PCI Express graphics card and a PCI TV card? Would they be compatible with each other, or would they need to be the same bus format? Thanks!

Most PCI-E boards do not have PCI slots. Need a PCI-E TV card.

I haven't seen one that doesn't, actually (well, maybe a micro-btx board, nevertheless, mainstream boards def have both).

You'll be fine. Although you might want to look for an all-in-wonder card.

I've looked at the AIW and I like them. The problem is that the graphics offerings are not too powerful in PCIe. I think the highest that ATI currently offers is the X600 configuration, which according to the benchmarks isn't too great. I'm not an extreme gamer, but I want to get a midrange card that will last for a while, as far as running the latest games.

Absolutely wrong. In fact, it is completely the opposite of the truth: Most PCIe boards have MORE PCI slots than x1 slots. Some PCIe boards don't even have any x1 slots (Tom's reviewed one in his last comparison with two X16 slots and no x1 slots).

I checked and you are right. I have one PCIe x16, one PCIe x1 and two PCI slots.

How cheap! They could have at least made the x1 slot an x4 slot to use up the rest of the lanes (x1 cards work in x4 slots, as do x4 cards).
