Hi, I hope this is the correct place to post this.

I have just had my PC upgraded and I am not convinced all is well. My machine is now a P4 3.4Ghz 1Gb DDR Ram 400Hz, a GeForce 6600GT PCI express. I have a 650 Watt Power supply and two DVD Drives and two internal Hard drives.

The machine plays Doom 3 like a dream - I have high settings and do not notice any stutter at all. I have also played The Battle For Middle Earth on High Settings and this runs fine as well. However I can only acheive a 3D Mark of just over 2000 which is poor for the system and games like Half life 2 and even Starwars Battlefront seem to suffer from what I call screen stuttering.

Could anyone advise me of where I can find a document which advises on how to make sure my machine is correctly set up and what to look for in the bios etc that could be causing this. I am sure my machine should play Star Wars Battlefront without any stutter at all.

PS when playing games I close things like Norton down and I disable my network card.

I have run the DXdiag tests and everything passes and I have downloaded new drivers for everything from my Motherboard to the graphics card.

I have also noticed the machine seems to want to hang for a few extra second when opeing a window or launching my browser - my older machine was certainly quicker in these resepcts.

Many thanks for any help.

1- Erase that huge useless DXdiag post.

2- 2000 is indeed very low for your setup - if you're running 3dMark 2003. Then again, if that were your score, Half Life 2 certainly wouldn't be speeding along.

If you're running 3dMark ***2005***, however, a score of 2000 is just fine.

Which version of 3dMark are you running? 2003? or 2005?

The verson 3DMark05 the score was 2133 3dMarks

I have just found an old copy of 3dMark03 and scored 5907.

The screen seemed to be full on minor stutters though - am I being just too picky??
