So with the advice of others here I put together a new system the other night and it is pretty sweet. There is just one serious problem. Every time I exit out of my game that I play (America's Army) the system gets a blue screen of death. Here are the specs on the system:
Antec Sonata Piano case
380W Antec True Power PSU
DFI LanParty UT Nforce 3 250 Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ retail with fan
1 Gig 3200 memory in 2 512MB sticks
WD 7200 RPM SATA 160GB Hard Drive
BFG 6600 GT OC AGP Video Card
Windows XP Professional SP2 - all hotfixes
I have updated the NVidia chipset drivers to the latest and I have updated the video card drivers to the latest from the Nvidia site also. There is no added software on the system as it was just brought up and I immediately started seeing the problem. When I click to send the report to Micrsoft it states that a device driver has crashed on the system and does not give me more information (that I can see). I am assuming it is my video card as it is crashing when switching from my game back to the desktop which involves a change in resolution. The crash is very consistent. I called BFG and they said that I was pretty much on my own trying to troubleshoot it as I have done all the updates they recommend. Anyone here got any recommendations for me? Is there more info on the crash that I can get from the OS? If this is not a good place for this kind of a problem, can you recommend a better resource / forum for debugging this problem? Thank you in advance!
Yes, I did do all of my updates. I updated the BIOS of the motherboard and all device drivers and all Windows Updates. According to the BFG tech representative, I am dealing with a hardware issue. The OS is pristine as it was just installed and there is literally nothing on the system except for the OS, device drivers and one game.
I figure it is video card hardware related as it seems to occur right when there is a switch in screen resolution. I actually saw the blue screen once while in the game adjusting the resolution of the game itself.
Thanks for you advice. Anyone else got ideas or tips that might help?
