Hello, I installed a new benQ DVD Writer, DW 1620 in my DELl DIM.
2400. Using Dell's 'Cyberlink DVD Player', a DVD movie ran flawlessly.
I then tried using the NERO OEM DVD program that came with the benQ.
so I deleted Dell's Cyberlink program, via Add/Remove. The new OEM
writer program was a disaster. It would not play the movie and I spent
too much time trying to follow complicated instructions about Direct X
.. So, impatiently I deleted the OEM progam as well. ..
I then went back and re-installed Dell' Cyberlink. BUT, somehow, it
would no longer run the movie.
TWO QUESTIONS:
a) Did Dell's Cyberlink program not run because it was installed with
SETUP.EXE, (the usual way), instead of being installed as part of a
re-installation of WIN XP?
b) Could someone recommend a DVD player, Writer, reWriter program for
Simpletons? I'm not into high learning curves, and I expect, 99 percent
of the time, to use the DVD as data storage and playing movies. And If
I choose to become a masochist, I plan to start learning the other
stuff.
