I'm asking for my soon-to-be brother-in-law who is builing a new P4 550 3.4 system. Something for gaming but also for watching DVDs and TIVO and picture editing (he bought an TIVO adapter, i think) and the like with his family? It has to be PCIe tho.
I'd like to be able to recommend to him something that would suit thier needs well without going overboard like a 6800 Ultra.
Thank you

I would have to agree with the 6600GT. Its hard to find 6600GT's in AGP versions, but PCI-Express versions are pretty plentiful. Not to mention they are cheaper than the AGP versions. The 6600GT should provide good performance in all of today's games, without breaking the bank.
I'm not so sure how hard it is to find a 6600GT AGP, just go to newegg and pick from one of their 6 different brands in stock. As for the price issue--it's because the bridge costs $$$$.
Maxtor disgraces the six letters that make Matrox.
