I'm tearing my hair out trying to decide on buying a 6600 gt or waiting for a x800 xl. I'd like to keep my new rig's vid card under $300.

Buy.com lists the x800 xl for $299 plus 2 $10 coupons (first time shopper and computer components) will bring it down to $279. Those coupons expire 1/31. If I order now it will still be honored if it comes in before 1/31 or not, right?

HUH, what! Link please, the X800XL is available??!! I looked but didn't see it on their site. $279... really, if you need a PCI-e card...go for it!!!!! It won't stay that price for long. It basically equals 6800GT performance, at a much cheaper price. Agp won't be out for a while, if ever (fingers crossed)

Again, link please... this is a first announcement of availability to my knowledge. Good job, now give me the link, I want it.

hey, now it shows up searching, didn't a few minutes ago.

<A HREF="http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10390749&loc=101&sp=1" target="_new">http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10390749&loc=101&sp=1</A>

if i needed a PCI-e card, I would try and order that right now for the $279. In stock or not, I'd order it if it would let me. And it says you can order it today! Do it!, Do it now!!!

Otherwise, click that auto alert button now! get it, get it, get it!!!

No other PCI-e card for $279 is going to performa anything like that card. Drool...go get it. ugh, I am tired. Time to go to bed and hopefully not think about my AGP only limitations.

<b>Retail BBA X800XL $279 drooooooool!</b>

Hey Ponzu, to my knowledge you discovered X800XL for sale for THGC. Way to go, you should win a prize. many folks want this card. many others like me, want it in AGP bad. Anyway, good job! and thx.

Sorry, I guess I should have been clear that it is out of stock at buy.com. I was at Fry's tonight and the guy said it would probably be March before they had a regular stock of them.

Here's the link anyway:

March, ugh... paul settles down with a here we go again feeling. If I were a drinking man, I'd be off to a bottle now. Just kidding (I think, honestly not sure what i'd do, as I don't drink).

Anyway, no problem on the availbility and causing my near heart attack. It is nice to see a link on a site, and under list for a BBA with a coupon code...my kinda deal. Only card i would want more is the HIS brand.

Anyway, it is my feeling that a $279 preorder just might be a huge bargain for this card. if you get it that is. I had a preorder for a BBA radeon X800XTpe for under $400 shipped back in the beginning of X800 days. it never materialized and i am too cheap or just plain smart to spend $575 on one now. I would be surprised if most online sites like newegg, and other pricewatch sites aren't going to charge well over $300 for this card when they first get them. :frown:

Anyway, IF that was agp, which is impossible I know, I would have placed an order before even posting this. $279... yup send me one of those please. I'll explain the need to my wife later, no problem. Also, I can wait til it comes in, just put me first on your list and send me one. Thank you kind hardware vendor. Yours truely, paul

I obviosly need sleep now, 1:44AM. GN

by the way, X800XL will spank, crush, destroy, walk all over, etc. a 6600GT. I'd wait if you can. I envy your PCI-e mobo now and the oportunity to struggle with this choice.

Anyway, reminds me of the movie "<A HREF="http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/the_rundown/" target="_new">The Rundown</A>" I just watched again this week. One I thought was great, others may not. But in the opening scene, where he takes on the football team... that is nothing compared to what the X800XL will do to the GF6600GT. And OT, but if you like action movies, especailly with comedy mixed in, and haven't seen The Rundown, rent it despite what you may think about the Rock.

It wouldn't let me use the coupons but that's still a good deal I think (if it ever comes in)

I'mm glad I don't have to explain my hardware purchases to anyone ;)

While still not in stock on ATI's website, <A HREF="http://www.ati.com/buy/pricespccdn.html" target="_new">look at this BS CDN price</A>! F'in $399!

Bastardz! Exchange rate says it should be $355! I'm gonna call them when it's in stock and ask if they'd let me pay for mine in US funds just to see what they'll say!

Still looking to go for the HIS model, it looks SchWeEet!

Ouch, Ede's been bragging about your prices as of lately. But your own company still chooses to rook ya huh?. You'll probably have better luck getting a HIS card than us. Seems, so far the HIS X800 series has been has been basically removed from sites like Newegg and eWiz. I ahven't seen one locally anywhere either.

Yeah I was just bragging about that price till I rememebred the US price was 299$ not 399$. ATi has always ripped people off when buying straight from them. I noticed this. You might pay up to 100$ more for the same thing than elsewhere.

Gotta tell ya, even though I need AGP, I wonder if @ $269 preordering one from ATI and throwing it on EBAY when supply makes the street price $350+, isn't such a bad idea. Hopefully ATI has slews of em coming though.

Oh you bastard!

Truth be told, I'm very reluctant of any hardware purchase online. Even though it'd be direct from ATi, I can't help but wonder what the risks are, and how inconvenient it would be if the card had troubles, ya know? What do you think?

You bastage!

Well, unless the next gen is around the corner, this one's the definite one. I can't imagine the AMR ATis to be out any soon anyways so I ain't waiting. Cost will mean little to me on this one too, seems to me by the time it is out locally, I'll have worked enough to have over 2600$ available for hardware purchasing.

Just hoping Daiwadistributing (HIS dealer for Canada) gets back to me about the price of the Dual DVI VIVO version. I sent them an e-mail 2 days ago, will call tomorrow now that the ATI online store is selling them.

Well here you go, I still didn't get a reply from DAIWA, but here's what HIS said;

<i><font color=purple>

Dear xxx,

The X800XL Dual DVI-I, VIVO is not avaliable until mid February.

However, we will have X850XT Platinum Edition & X800XT Dual DVI-I available. Please contact with Daiwa for the price. The product should arrive anytime next week in Canada.

Best Regard.
Marketing Department.
</font color=purple></i>

Well it looks like the XL will be here soon enough for me to give myself a birthday present.

Note that they say the X850 will be here sooner.

I was going to try and pre-order the x800xl today from the ATI site, but it's not on there anymore. I called and asked them about it and the sales person I had talked to said that they had to take them off the site to prevent to many getting backordered. They allocated 500 cards to the first 500 pre-orders and they will start shipping next week.

So the good news is that ATI will start shipping at least the first 500 cards next week. He also said that the backorders after the first 500 will ship no later than 30 days from next week. At least we know now that they are almost here.
