Hi, I am currently using a GF2MX/MX400 w/64MB of mem.
Kinda old I know but hey :)

I have been offered a Radeon 7500LE which also has 64MB.

I just can't find any comparisons between these 2 cards, and i can't even remember if they were the same generation, or if the 7500 was more GF3 era.

I'm running a 2.4GHz P4 so horsepower isn't a question.
(yes i know i should get a proper card)

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

thx.

The Radeon 7500LE is the faster card. As far as generations go, Both are only DX 7 cards. Also both are re-released versions that came later (compared to original GF2MX and original R7500). I'd say the 7500le came about later time wise. But anyway, the 7500le, although slower than a 7500, would be faster than the GF4MX400 even if it is an SDR one. Better yet if DDR. (note review link has both listed: 64MB DDR, 128MB SDR)

Anyway, don't worry that it's only 64MB still as 128MB would never help this card in the games it has the horsepower to play.

Too bad it wasn't an 8500LE as those are still capable of playing almost all games. But, yup, you need a real card  , even a cheap used GF4Ti4200.

Well, funny question: The 7500LE is to the 7500 what the MX400 was to the GF2 Ultra. The 7500 and GF2 Ultra were about equal in DX7 performance, the 7500 had a couple DX8 features but not the complete set.

So I really don't think you'd see a large performance gain, but benchmarks such as 3D Mark 2001 would show a higher score due to improved features.
