If not a 9800pro then what?

My mate wants a new gfx card. He wants a newer card than the 9800pro generation. Long story short, what card either nvidia or ati is the next step up from the 9800pro.

Rather, the next step up in performance (on AGP) is the 6600GT or the 6800nu. If you also want to include PCIe, X700Pro, X700XT, X800SE and X800 are all at or greater in performance.

Maxtor disgraces the six letters that make Matrox.

The 6600GT isn't that much better than a 9800 PRO, it *is* better but not enough to bother upgrading to, IMHO.

Hell, I've got a 9700 PRO and I wouldn't bother going to a 6600GT or X700. At the very least, look at the 6800GT or X800XL.

yeah I reckon I really knew the answer anyway.... the next step up is more or less the plain 6800 but in terms of cost
9800pro 200ish euro
6800 350ish euro.

I figure I'll beat him into getting a 9800pro and using the spare cash on other things given the pc is not entirely focused on games.
