I recently decided to buy an eVGA GeForce 6600 GT to throw into my wife's Compaq Presario. I realized that the 250W power supply probably wasn't quite enough to run the new card, so I bought a rosewill 450W power supply at the same time. My wife understands computers enough to put in a power supply and a video card, so I let her do it while I was out of town.
Problem is, the card won't work. The computer will run fine with the new power supply if I run the on-board video, but when we put in the 6600 the monitor never receives a signal, and the USB mouse and keyboard do not get power. The CPU fan stays on full speed for at least a few minutes (I didn't let it go any further than that before I powered it off)
Any suggestions on what might be causing this, and what I can do to fix it?
