problems with disk clearing,burning cd,encoding video files

well i have this problem that past week or so, each time i try to clear disk
the pc turns itself off i don't mean shutdown it just goes off and the power
light is still on but the cooling fan doesn't work, also when i try to encode
a video file the same thing happens and i try to burn a cd the samething
happens am not sure of what to do no more any ideas?

Sounds like a power supply problem. When you make the HDD or the CD work
it overlaods the PSU and iit shuts off. Try discnonnecting/removing some
cards or peripherals and see if that stops it doing it. If so, then you
need a bigger PSU.
