When you are at a product family page, such as:

http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/compare.aspx/precn?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd

If you scroll down you'll see "Product Details" links for each system.
Click on the one for 470 and explore. That is stuff you should be
familiar with.

You can also go to:

http://support.dell.com/support/systemsinfo/documentation.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&~cat=12

find the system or device you are interested in, and check out the
product documentation.

If the 470 has a slot of the right type available, I would assume so.
IIRC, the 470 has one 5 volt PCI slot and one 3.3 volt PCI-X slot. I
think you can plug a 32-bit PCI card into that 64-bit PCI-X slot. So
you could install, at most, two PCI cards (PCIe cards are different).
Most sound cards and modems are PCI, so if you wanted one of each,
there goes all your PCI slots. Furthermore, I believe there is a voltage
issue. The 5v PCI slot can take either a 5v card or a universal card.
The PCI-X slot can take either a 3.3v card or a universal card. I think
some of the Hauppage cards are universal and some are 5v only. If
you picked a universal it could go into either of your slots. But if you
picked a 5v only, it would have to go into the 32-bit slot. Which would
be fine if it is empty. If it isn't empty and the card that is in there is a 5v,
you couldn't move it over to the PCI-X.

Read up on PCI & PCI-X and double check me on that.

Hauppauge makes great stuff. I have a PVR250 and two PVR USB2.

Personally, I recommended the USB2 version. No opening the case. No PCI
slot. Great quality.

I really think I want the PCI card version of Hauppauge
card. That way I have it all in one neat tidy box....
and not a bunch of cables and wires everywhere. No?
