I have try some other forum already have couldn't really found a good answer to my problem, here is a copy of the exchange from one of the other forum
I am using a SMC router right now, but even with DMZ enable, I can not use MS netmeeting to do video chat, I have to plug in the modem directly in order to do so!
is there any router in the market that can work with netmeeting software?
in another related subject
Is there any Dsl/Cable router in the market that allow more then just 1 DMZ at a time?
thanks for your answer

MS Netmeeting is notoriously difficult to use with any type of router. David just helped a listener through a long bout of this successfully, so I am going to let him comment on this.

Since we are still waiting for David, let me also point out that both me and my friend system use xp, and we also both use the same Smc dsl/cable router and cable broadband isp!
Although my isp will be attbi and my friends is singtel
a few item of interest, we can transfer file and send mesage with IM, but can not connect with netmeeting!

You have to do some port mappping, and it still may not work.
There are some documents on the support.microsoft.com site that could help, but this is one of those products that MS uses to make support money,a nd because it is free they don't care to help very much.

that is too bad, since dsl/cable modem seem to be a must have with all broadband user! and netmeeting conference seem to be such a useful and build in software that we could really use!
I do have a couple of extra question if you don't mind!
1. I thought DMZ is suppose to open all port as thru it is transparent in one computer, why it still can not work in netmeeting? while port mapping might?
2. In your experience, is there any brand/model of cable/dsl router thta you feel have a better chance of actually work with netmeeting?
