XP does not recognize any files on floppies made with 98

Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support (More info?)

I have a number of files stored on floppies from my Windows 98 computer and
when I try to load them on my new Dell XP2 computer there is a error message
that says the floppy is not formatted. What can I do to get those files so
they are compatible with my XP computer.
