I have a windows 7 and a canon imageclass MF4150 all in one printer. The device manager is picking up the printer as attached and then not identifying the device as a printer. The troubleshoot that windows is giving me is to download the drivers which I have done about ten times and each time I have it overwrite the same file. Whenever I download the drivers is will download them but then the files are no where to be found. While this printer is three years old, it is a great laser printer and I don't want to purchase a new one. There are updated drivers on the canon site for windows 7 and those are the ones that I have been downloading. Any ideas would be helpful.

Solution
Just disconnect the printer, restart the system & connect the printer again!
It should detect the printer automatically, if asked for drivers, browse the explorer & provide the location where the printer drivers are downloaded OR Double click the driver (.exe)file!

Download the correct drivers for Windows 7provided at here (32/64 bit), also with Toolbox Software & firmware update tool! Install them all & try
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=124&modelid=14444#DownloadDetailAct

(Sometimes 32/64 bit drivers also cause some problems, if installed in wrong version)

Before installing latest drivers, follow the good habit of removing older driver versions using

Driver Cleaner Pro 1.5 (Freeware)...
