On my other post i explianed my errors on SP2 install.

I unistalled & reinstalled, no errors this time..BUT, after the install it
asks to turn on auto updates (1st screen). I did. Then after reboot, the 1st
time I installed it had a security window appear. It asked about the
firewall as well as Virus protection. After my uninstall & "reinstall," I
never got the second screen...nothing asked me about firewall & virus
protection. Not sure if it is right.

Also, on my outlook express, the pics on email (ie: pc world, pc magazine
are missing). Strange. Not sure if this SP2 is worth it?

There is a setting in Outlook Express that will allow you to see the photos,
etc.

yes, tools-options-security(tab) the uncheck "block images and other
external content in html email."
however, if you do uncheck this you may want to disable the 'preview pane'
(view-layout-showpreviewpane) so that questionable emails are not
automatically opened. and of course you must have an up to date anti virus
program running.

Agreed.

Or, the OP could enable the images *after* installing a mail filtering
program like mailwasher, where he could preview and delete suspicious mails
from the server before bringing them down.

Doc;
Do you have a firewall enabled?
Do you have updated anti virus?
If yes to both, it is normal not to be notified by the Security Center.

Email pictures:
Tools/Options Security
Uncheck "Block images..."
But then you open a huge security hole.
Better to click the bar at the top of the Emails you want to see instead of
unchecking and advertising your existence to the world.

You have said nothing to suggest SP-2 is not worth it.
To the contrary you seem to better protected than you thought...exactly as
planned.

While mailwasher has a mention, i`ve got some filters available at
http://www.coreutilities.co.uk that are a good starting point
