R520 spotted as X950XT?

HardwareLuxx posted some interesting 3Dmk05 screenies.

Showing the X950XT as 24pipes, 750mhz core 900mhz memory (512mb) complete with SM3.0 support.

WOW Grape, Nice find. That's doing more for me this morning than my coffee.

24 pipe, 750MHz core, and 900 MHz mem (seems low, or is it 1,800 MHz effective?!! mem). These are about like some guesses that have been out there. I know people have been talking about mem clocked up to 1.8GHz on R520 at B3D. I would not have expected that right away though, but 900MHz sounds way too wimpy when so many cards are pushing 1000MHz and higher already.

Any chance this is photoshopped? If it's true, maybe we will still see this card appear at this weekends OC fest?

The X950XT looks to be a fast one. Wonder if there will be a XTpe, and also a 24-pipe $300 X900XL maybe 6 months later!

Yes that is 1800 MHz effective, so not low at all.
I hope this is true stuff that they show over there, would be great to have ATi converm it.

We can dream right. I guess getting X800XL down to $300 every day should be the dream first though. Hey, talks are that Rialto is ready, so maybe you can go X800XL AGP pretty soon instead of BFG 6800GT/U.

Droolz!!!!

I fear it's a fake though, but hope that I'm wrong on that.

EDIT: Wow, was just thinking, what would 512MB of 1.8GHz GDDR3 cost?!?!?!

Do they even make 1800 Mhz memory?

That sort of ruins the credibility of it for me...

And yes, ANYTHING can be photoshopped. Although we could check the futuremark site to see if the result is posted...

Samsung is already showing off their 1066mhz GDDR3 memory, now it says availability likely in 2006, but you know the pace of memory. So just under 900mhz, likely a reality already, so I'm not too surprised really.

And I doubt it's photo-chopped, but you never know. To me it looks more like someone saw Zardon post his card in DH, and they wanted some attention too, like that kid who posted the Apple Tiger beta stuff. IF this isn't photo-chopped it's a nice looking piece of hardware, and sofar it looks about right, but only those who already have one know for sure.

EDIT: Remember it's not a posted result, it's simply the DETAILS section of 3Dmk05, which doesn't require running let alone submitting tests/results.

You know, if ATI shows this 512mb card this weekend, how long do you think before it starts dropping the prices on their current offerings, like the x850xt's?

They can show it this weekend, but it won't hit retail 'til April at the earliest, and that would be the very earliest it starts pushing down X850XT prices, and if anything it comes out at $800 and it only pushes X850XTs to their MSRP IMO. Maybe a month after that then you'd see a drop, but maybe just the cancellation of the X850XT and a slow decline in shipments. Of course likely the X850XT in AGP would stick around for long afterwards.

ATI is supposed to be giving away one new card at the OC fest. R520 might show up this weekend, but no way is that what is going to be sent home with one lucky person. we shall soon see.

nV's response to anything pre-R520 is SLI. Their response to the R520 is something we shall likely here more about as we hear more about the R520. Both companies like to at least release info to compete with each other even if they can't release product at the same time. The threat of the R520 will probably keep some people from getting the GF6800GT/U or even 2 of them, but then when the R520 approaches nV will release info to make people pause for a moment before getting and R520.

That's how it's been with all releases it seems.
